Bluegill are the backbone of most any pond's forage base. We offer two species of bluegill sunfish; Native, or Straight Bluegill, and Coppernose Bluegill. Bluegill are very prolific and spawn multiple times during the summer and in high numbers. A mating pair of bluegill can produce upwards of 40,000 eggs in one spawn. Bluegill can spawn several times in a year in a well managed pond. This allows for ample forage of various sizes throughout the year. Bluegill consume small invertebrates, insects, and small fish. They are easily trained to a pelleted feed and can grow to trophy sizes quickly in most any pond with proper management. Setting up an automatic fish feeder can greatly increase the overall size and abundance of bluegill in your pond. ARC Lake and Pond can take care of that for you.
There are numerous sunfish species that resemble bluegill, usually referred to as "bream" and not all are recommended for stocking. Aquatic Resource Consulting only stocks species that are compatible with your overall management plan. Contact us below or give us a call for your bluegill and fish feeder needs.
Bluegill sunfish serve many roles in your pond. From bass forage to prized fighters for anglers.
